Printing of the thesis was closely followed by printing of our new study on the evolution of ageing. This time on the evolutionary causes of sex differences in longevity. Again huge congrats to Hwei-yen!!!
Chen H-y and Maklakov AA (2014) Condition Dependence of Male Mortality Drives the Evolution of Sex Differences in Longevity. Current Biology in press
and the office mates joined in celebration – each in their favorite style I suppose? 🙂
Tao You finished his MSc project: Evolution of same-sex behaviour in male and female beetles, which was jointly supervised by Alexei and David Berger. Congratulations to Tao who conducted two massive selection experiments during his project and produced really exciting results!
Congratulations to Martin Lind, Elena Berg and Ghazal Alavioon on the newly accepted article in Functional Ecology!
“Evolution of differential maternal age effects on male and female offspring development and longevity”
Short summary of the last three months:
Hanne Carlsson and Mark Ramsden joined the lab as full-time RAs helping out with nematode projects.
Brian Mautz arrived from Canada to work on the role of sexual selection in reducing mutation load. Brian has worked on a variety of different organisms (see his page) and now will be adding nematodes to this list.
Börn Rogell returned from Australia to continue his work on the evolution of gene expression and ageing before starting as Assistant Professor in Stockholm in December.
Sara Meurling joins our lab from February 3 as RA in the Nematode Lab!
